
Diversity Scholarship
BCITO wishes to support individuals from groups currently underrepresented in construction trade careers. The scholarship applies to BCITO apprentices as well as those undertaking the Supervisor qualification.
Applications open on 20 April and close on 22 May 2026.

How many scholarships are available?
Twenty (20) scholarships are available nationwide in 2026. You can only be awarded a Diversity Scholarship once.
How much are the scholarships worth?
Each scholarship is for up to $2,000 excl. GST (if applicable).
Who is eligible?
We wish to support individuals from groups currently underrepresented in construction trade careers. The scholarship applies to BCITO apprentices as well as those undertaking the Supervisor qualification.
Applicants can come from any group currently underrepresented in the construction trade careers. This may include but is not limited to:
- gender diversity
- ethnic background
- Māori & Pasifika
Applicants must have been signed into a training agreement with BCITO for no longer than twelve (12) months up to 22 May 2026.
What can this scholarship be used for?
You can use this scholarship to cover the costs associated with training that best suit your personal development needs. Some examples include:
- accommodation or travel to attend courses
- course materials
- childcare
- technology
- tools
All applications will be considered by BCITO’s Scholarship Team. They may request additional information from the applicant or from their Training Advisor. Successful applicants will demonstrate how well the intended use of the funds, meets the purpose of the scholarship.

How and when will applicants be notified?
All applicants will be notified by email or phone within six weeks of the application close date. Names of those awarded will be published in BCITO media channels and must be available for media interview if required.
How are scholarships claimed once awarded?
For costs incurred, payment will be made direct to your nominated account.
